The cultivation of potatoes: a family affair
In our family, the passion has been passed on from generation to generation since 1948. That year, Clovis Isabelle and his wife, Jeanine Robidoux, purchased a parcel of land in Saint-Michel de Napierville. The vegetables they grew were mainly sold at the Valleyfield market and the Bonsecours market in Montreal.
In the meantime, the family grew with 10 children! Of these, 5 decided to take over and continue what their parents had started: Roger, Michel, Mario, Louise and Daniel.
With more arms to work with, over the years, the company C. Isabelle Inc. began its expansion by acquiring many lands in the region over the years. Counting the latest acquisition of a new production division located in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, the company now cultivates 1,600 acres of land!
Today, our family enjoys a great reputation in the industry thanks to the quality of its products. Our young successor adheres to the same values as his predecessors and wishes to meet the expectations of his customers. This is why the company’s shareholders have not hesitated to invest in the most advanced operating systems.
The company acquired an optical sorter in 2015, and a second one in 2021, in addition to a computer software that ensures optimal management and superior crop yields, ensuring a high quality product and traceability from the field to your plate.
With time and the help of many partners, we have developed a distribution network that allows us to deliver our potatoes throughout Quebec, Ontario, the Maritimes and the entire American East Coast, as far as Florida.
Decades later, the head office and the production and packaging plant are still today in the same place where Clovis and Jeanine bought their first land.
